Benefits of Gift Cards
Gift giving can be stressful. Because most people want to please and want the recipients to enjoy and use their gift, finding the perfect gift can be a challenge. That’s why many people turn to gift cards for birthdays, anniversaries, graduation, and other special occasions.
A few of the benefits of giving a gift card as a gift include:
• You won’t waste your money. Most people have gotten a gift at one time or another that they knew that they would never wear or use, but felt guilty returning it. As a result, it sits on a shelf or in a closet. Rather than wasting your money on a gift that will never get used, give a gift card. It’s like giving money, so you know it will be put to good use.
• Great for acquaintances. If you don’t know your recipient very well, such as a new co-worker or a second cousin, a gift card takes the guess work out of gift giving. You may not know what this person likes or doesn’t like, so let the recipient pick out a gift. Many bosses give their employees gift cards for this very reason.
• Many choices. Virtually every store, restaurant, movie theater, and specialty store offers gift cards. If you are worried that your gift card will be impersonal, you can always get a gift card to a place that you know the recipient will like.
Gift cards can also come in the form of what are essentially prepaid debit or credit cards. For example, with an American Express gift card, you purchase the card and put a dollar amount on it. Then, the recipient can use this gift card like a credit card until they reach the dollar amount that you put on the card. It’s very convenient and allows the gift card holder to use the card in multiple places.
